Q and A with Chris Pegg, Steve and Karen!

May 7, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Well today was a bit of an odd day. It started with a casting for a casino commercial. I can’t remember the name of the company but fingers crossed! I had to give a serious pose while I contemplated red or black, and then portray some fake excitement. The best part of the day though was a Q and A session with Metroradio Steve and Karen, who present the largest breakfast show in the North East. The purpose of the session was to […]

A little late to the Daft Punk party

May 1, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Daft Punk are finally back to give us some new music for a proper album rather than a soundtrack, not that I’m saying the Tron soundtrack was poor, quite the contrary. I enjoyed it most when driving through snowy conditions while epic music boomed out the speakers amplifying the dreary conditions. They’re latest track, Get Lucky, is the first off they’re upcoming fourth album Random Access Memories. The album is to be released on 17 May, and judging from the […]

The Dark Side of the Moon

April 30, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Yep, thats right, I just stole the album title from a Pink Floyd album (shame on you if you haven’t heard of them!). After taking the Tamron 18-270mm lens to the Focus on Imaging expo, I was slightly disappointed with its performance in low light conditions. At times it would give me perfect shots, while others it would completely freak out and make images look like they had been taken during an earthquake. I decided to invest in some higher quality lenses, one of […]

Creating Something from Nothing

April 14, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

A few days ago I was browsing the web going through my feeds when I came across a video on Fail Blog. The video was less of a fail and way more of a win. Where as normal videos were of people falling over, typical mishaps and shenanigans, this was of stop motion on another level. I can’t remember the name of the creator since I’m typing this away from any Internet connection to find out, but what they had […]

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct

March 18, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

The people at AMC decided to milk the Walking Dead series, by making a few games based on it. Telltale Games released a point and click adventure based on the first two seasons, while Terminal Reality have gone with making a first person shooter. If you don’t know what Walking Dead is about, you either have been living under a rock, or have poor detective skills, since the title pretty much sums it up. You play as Daryl, who is […]

Crashing Focus on Imaging 2013

March 8, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

I got a chance to check out the Focus on Imaging event for the first time ever with Ideal Photos. I wasn’t sure what to expect but after having a look at the website a few days before, I saw that Nikon and Canon which meant I had to go! After a 4 hour drive down due to a few wrong turns we finally made it to the NEC Birmingham. The venue was absolutely packed from amateur photographers to the […]

Tomb Raider is Buried Treasure

February 26, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

After all these movie reboots what’s wrong with a game trying to do the same? Tomb Raider takes Lara Croft back to the start as she embarks on her first quest to make her name. On a ship call the ‘Endurance’, her team is out to find some old sun queen who’s name I’ve forgotten, possibly Imca, Ico or Imico? I don’t know. After getting shipwrecked on Dragon Island, Lara is grabbed from the shore and wakes up hanging from […]

Ideal Photo’s Promo and Wedding Sample

February 18, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

I was asked to create a short promo video for Ideal Photos. This consisted of a mixture of three couples, and the day from kinda the start to finish. Normally we also shoot the pre-wedding stuff like the bride and groom getting ready, the bridesmaids etc. but I figured people want to see the real day. The soundtrack is The XX – Intro from their self-titled album. I just love the chilled out vibe or it and works well building […]

Did Your Arm Just Fall Off? Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

February 15, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Since I can’t be bothered to type the entire name I’m just going to call it MGR. It’s a spin off of the Metal Gear series, and takes place after Guns of the Patriots. Raiden is the sword wielding ninja players control, although he seems less of a douche compared to his previous encounters. The antagonists of the game are Desperado Enterprises, a private military company who kill the president Raiden is protecting, and later on, are involved in the […]

Aliens: Colonial Marines – You Made a Bad Game and You Should Feel Bad

February 8, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Okay, you may have guessed from the title how this view of the game is going to go. Let’s clear up a few things first, I loved the first and second Alien movies, as well as the Predator tie-ins. The third instalment of was awful but Resurrection made up slightly for it. In terms of the games, there were some previous Alien games such as Alien on the Atari back in 1962, as well as Aliens in 1990. I never […]

It’s Time to Shit Bricks – Dead Space 3

February 2, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Dead space is a game I’ve been keeping my eye on after Resident Evil became less of a horror. It took the monsters that were in ‘The Thing’, and put them on a ship in the middle of space, with just you and them. In the first game Isaac Clarke, the protagonist of Dead Space, destroyed the Marker that was extracted by the Ishimura. The Marker is a artifact central to the massive religion Unitoligy (the bathshit crazy religion spin […]

Where’s my blizzard?

January 31, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

The snow hammered the north recently, which meant two things – Chance to crack your skull on the pavement Chance to grab some pictures I didn’t venture about much since the thought of not trashing the car (I had a situation on a hill!) was top priority. While wandering about from place to place I did stop to take a few. The up close ones were taken with the 35mm lens which gave the plants and snow crisp detail. The […]

Django Unchained!!

January 11, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Take Inglorious Basterds and instead set it in the Antebellum Era in the Deep South. Replace Brad Pitt’s band of merry soldiers with just Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz (he played Hans Landa), and throw in the action of Kill Bill. Django Unchained is the story of Django (Jamie Foxx), a free slave, travelling across America with Dr. King Schultz (Waltz) as they chase after wanted felons, and find Django’s wife. Waltz once again steals the show, as he explains […]

David Bowie and his big surprise.

January 10, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

David Robert Jones, or David Bowie as he’s known, is making a comeback. The 70s music sensation has released his new single ‘Where are we now?’ to much celebration. David Bowie first set the world alight in the 70s. Born in 1947 in Brixton, London, and raised by mum Margaret Mary and dad Haywood Stenton, Bowie was considered an adequate choir singer with above average musical ability. After many attempts to break in to the pop industry, Bowie’s success came […]

New Year at the Gurdwara

January 4, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Happy New Year!! Hope you had a good new year. I spent mine at the Gurdwara in Sunderland, while there I got a chance to take some pictures of the festivities as they began. This included a reading from the Guru Granth Sahib, as well as watching some of the festive food being made. The pictures were taken with a D3200 with a 35mm lens, and a 18-270mm. Check them out!

My Top 10 Remixes of 2012

December 30, 2012 by WhoIsDhillon

These are my top 10 favourite remixes of 2012. They may have not been created in this year, but it’s when they were added to my library! Runner Up – Paddling Out (Wolfgang Gartner Remix) – Miike Snow Well we’ll start with Miike Snow Paddling Out since I just figured out what this song was after hearing it several times. I though it’s definitely worth a mention since it was featured in an episode of Suits which gives anything massive brownie […]

My Top 10 Youtube Videos of the Year

December 20, 2012 by WhoIsDhillon

Well the end of the year is nearly upon us (or the world depending on how you look at it), and I figured I’d list my top 10 videos of the year. This list has come from videos that I have shared with friends and family, or videos that I have just watched over and over because of the talent used to create it. So let’s begin! Runner Up: Why You Should Never Celebrate Too Soon Figure I’d start with the […]

Short Radio Show

December 8, 2012 by WhoIsDhillon

Well as the analogy goes, it looks like I’ve got my fingers in too many pies (is it me or does that sound a bit dodgy nowadays?). I had to create a short 30min radio show for my Commercial Radio Course, and since I didn’t think I had a voice for radio I was too chuffed with doing it. What I did enjoy was the technical side of things such as creating the jingles, beds and some of the adverts. We also got the chance to […]

Camera Speedtest

December 7, 2012 by WhoIsDhillon

So I got a new lens to play about with which was the Nikkor 35MM 1.8 (cash back offer meant I could grab the 50MM for cheaper). Anyway the first thing I did was take pictures of the best food in the world, 10p jelly dummies (i’m pretty sure i’m gonna become a diabetic soon!). Since I saw how people had used this lens to get some great depth of field shots with some amazing detail, I thought these sweets would be a […]

Gamelan Display

6…1…6…1…2…1…2…1

November 18, 2012 by WhoIsDhillon

The numbers! What do they mean?! Well it’s actually to do with a musical style calls Gamelan, a traditional ensemble from Indonesia. It consists of a range of percussion instruments, plucked strings and flutes. During our taster session at Gateshead college, we got an hour to learn how to play the various instruments, although it was only the percussion items. This was being taught by Pete Smith, who came from Oxford to show us what it was all about. The […]
