Don’t Breathe Review

February 5, 2017 by WhoIsDhillon

Today I watched two horror films in one sitting simply because it was a chill day, and I needed some background noise while I sorted some things. Instead, I ended up being drawn into the background noise. The first film was The Autopsy of Jane Doe, something I will review later on, and the second was Don’t Breathe which has been hyped up for a while. Don’t Breathe follows three thieves – Rocky (Jane Levy), Alex (Daniel Zovatto) and […]

La La Land Review

January 30, 2017 by WhoIsDhillon

I watched Whiplash a few months back and was amazed at the performance from both Miles Teller and J K Simmons. When seeing that director Damien Chazelle was back with another film I was interested to see what it could be. While Whiplash was a brutal movie showcasing Teller’s character as someone wanting to prove his worth to Simmons’ anarchist teacher in any shape or form – La La Land is more of an optimists movie of two dreamers who […]

Totally Lazy India Follow Up Post

January 14, 2017 by WhoIsDhillon

Yep, as the title says this is a totally lazy post. I managed to find some time to cut together the footage from the GoPro and my D750. Annoyingly the GoPro hasn’t done an amazing job at the nighttime footage – but hey it’ll do. Need to get out and find out how to make it miles better. The video features a great night celebrating the Diwali festival, a trip out to the world’s most awful but hilarious theme park with […]

Jason Bourne – Kicking ass and taking names

August 1, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are back for another outing together as Jason Bourne delves further into his history. Considering previously Jason uttered the words ‘I remember everything’, what more could he need to find out? Turns out the Treadstone project went further than originally thought. Years have passed as Jason is now in hiding making a living as a bare-knuckle fighter, pretty much like Rambo did, but instead like a true bad ass knocks out people in one […]

Central intelligence – Intelligence highly lacking….

July 17, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson meets Kevin Hart in this action buddy movie, which Hart should be used after the successful Ride Along with Ice Cube. To me, it feels like he’s pretty much cheating on poor old Cube, as over the past year or so Johnson and Hart have been building the hype for the movie together. As such I was looking forward to seeing Central Intelligence since the daft marketing gags, such as the live video bust up they […]

Grimsby: Sacha Baron Cohen pulls out another stereotype!

April 9, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

Sacha Baron Cohen is back with another stereotype to exploit for everyone’s amusement, this time focusing on the folk of Grimsby. Here we have Norman “Nobby’ Butcher, a beer guzzling football hooligan who was along ago separated from his brother Sebastian. Sebastian played by Mark Strong – the typical go to British hard man after Jason Statham. Norman has been on the look out for his brother, and after 20 years of searching finally finds him, and interrupts Sebastian during […]

Batman v Superman: It’s like a really long pre-match warm up!

April 3, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

I thought 2013’s Man of Steel was an awesome start to the Superman reboot. It mixed his conflict with who he is and what he should do with his powers, as well as showing his upbringing by parents who were completely different from him and trying to still treat him as one of their own. Zack Snyder’s history of making decent films such as 300 and Watchmen seems to have been lost with Batman v Superman. 300 contained endless amazing […]

Zoolander 2 Review

February 27, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is back to make another mockery of the fashion business with his team mate Hansel (Owen Wilson). After going into hiding due to the collapse of his School for Kids Who Can’t Read Good, Derek is dragged out of retirement to take part in a fashion show so he can get his son back, as well as find out who is murdering high-profile celebrities. Cue a stupidity beyond imagination as they mock all the latest trends, […]

Deadpool Review

February 24, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

I’m not going to lie, I’ve already seen Deadpool at the IMAX twice, and will happily see it a third time if I had the funds. Ever since I saw the leaked test footage, and then got addicted to the hilarious marketing the film has been on my must watch list for ages! Although we’ve seen Deadpool before in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, his character was far from the real Deadpool. Although Ryan Reynolds did have a few lines, the character […]

Ride Along 2 Review

February 21, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

Buddy cop movies are all over the place, from Rush Hour, Bad Boys, Lethal Weapon, Cop Out, I could go on. Ride Along 2 is the sequel that finds Kevin Hart now a rookie cop on his probation trying to still prove himself to brother-in-law-to-be Ice Cube. Kevin Hart again commits to the role, bringing in his wacky over the top energetic performance seen previously in his other films. Ice Cube on the other hand, plays the typecast of hard […]

Legend – The Review

February 14, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

Tom Hardy puts in a stunning performance as the Kray Twins during their peak. Playing both Ronnie and Reggie Kray, it’s hard to believe that both characters are the same actor! Tom’s Reggie is full of charm and swagger that comes with a hint bravado while Ronnie is a character whose immense stance mixed with awkward body language is a character who no-one would want to mess with for the fear of making him snap. Both characters are poles apart […]

Daddy’s Home Review

February 7, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

The last time Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrel worked together was in the buddy cop movie The Other Guys, in which one of them played the nerd, and the other the tough guy. Essentially the same thing happens in Daddy’s Home, with Mark Wahlberg playing the tough guy badass biological father, and Will the dorky stepdad who just wants to be accepted. Dusty (Wahlberg) comes home for a visit that is supposed to be lasting a week, and is greeted […]

The Last Witch Hunter… for good!

January 31, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

Vin Diesel carries enough weight now due to the Fast and Furious franchise that he can be cast in any movie and people will flock to see it. Here it seems that the execs had some money to burn so pulled together a decent cast featuring Diesel, Michael Caine and Elijah Wood for a mediocre plotline involving witches and immortality and hoped for the best. Vin Diesel plays Kaulder, a witch hunter from somewhere where there’s braided beards and weird […]

Creed Review: Rocky is Sidelined

January 23, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

Rocky is back for another bout in the movie ring, but thankfully he’s stepping to the side so someone else can have their own 12 rounds. Adonis Creed is the new challenger, son of Apollo Creed, and all Apollo’s legacy sits on his shoulders. The film begins with Adonis’ mother coming to collect him from a youth offenders institute when he’s a kid and explain to him who he is. Then cut to older Adonis who now is trying to make […]

The Good Dinosaur – or Mediocre Dinosaur

January 16, 2016 by WhoIsDhillon

Pixar brought you greats like Up, Toy Story, Wall-E and more, but it seems like they’re losing their touch at delivering them. The Good Dinosaur is about Arlo, a young Apatosaurus (I have no idea what that is, Wikipedia shows a dinosaur with a long neck so let’s stick with it), who is having trouble finding out where he fits in his family. He’s not as strong as his brother, or smart as his sister. He lives in a world […]
