The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – or maybe a little sizzle

March 10, 2014 by WhoIsDhillon

I’m going to start this review with an opener of how biased it is – Battle Royale made the best fight to the death movie ever. Yep, I watched the first Hunger Games ages ago and I constantly kept thinking how it pretty much stole the main element of Battle Royale and built upon. That and the face it was a slightly more childish film geared to the new market of Twilight fans. Catching fire continues along with the story […]

Bad Grandpa Review

March 2, 2014 by WhoIsDhillon

Bad Grandpa is a comedy movie from the guys that created Jackass, with the same hidden camera layout of some of the sketches in the TV show. This time it focuses on one character paid by Johnny Knoxville – 86 year old Irving Zisman. Irving is tasked with taking his daughters son Billy across America to his dad. This simple plot-line is what strings together the different range of events to create the sketches – from simply awkward conversations with […]

Arnie Pye in the Sky! In Starburst 1 with Marky Mark.

February 23, 2014 by WhoIsDhillon

So last week I got to go up in the Metro Radio traffic helicopter Starburst 1 with Marky Mark to grab a picture for Mission Thank You, my expectations of the whole event were high, especially me freaking out and passing out from my fear of heights. Somehow that didn’t happen and i managed to stay conscious with no hint of nausea throughout the entire flight. It all began with turning up at Northumbria Helicopters in the early hours of […]

Back flips, front flips and a whole lot of dirt!

February 16, 2014 by WhoIsDhillon

A few weeks ago I got the chance to witness gravity defying stunts, fast speeds and a guy breaking out some human beatboxing mid show. That is the fun of Arenacross. We all went in expecting just some random tricks on bikes but got so much more. The first thing we found out was it is actually one of the rounds of an actual league, the fifth round, with round six taking place in Sheffield and the finals in Wembley. […]

Neon Jungle

A few things I’ve forgotten to blog about over the past months…

December 31, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Well as the year has been wrapping up a lot of things have happened. Firstly I got the chance to hang out backstage and see everyone from Example to Little Mix. Artists can be so different when they’re off the mic! I also was asked to film hundreds of elves passing a toy from one end of the Millennium Bridge to the other all in support of Cash for Kids! The elf costumes didn’t end there, as other supporters were […]

North Road

December 1, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

I got the chance to film an acoustic band from the Durham in the North East. North Road is comprised of three members, Jack Robinson, Josh Henderson & Charlie Griffiths. They cover a range of instruments but primarily use acoustic, mainly guitars, their vocals and a Cajon drum. North Road was formed in the summer of 2012 as all three of them studied for a diploma in Music at New College Durham. Prior to becoming North Road they played music individually and often […]

30 Seconds to Mars with You Me at Six

November 19, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

You Me At Six opened the night to warm at the crowd. They got everyone raising their fists and screaming with popular songs like Underdog and Bite My Tongue. Josh Franceschi, the lead singer and frontman encouraged people to mosh as much as they could, crowd surf, and basically be as maniac as they could. This was a sign of things to come. Jared Leto opened 30 Seconds to Mars by slowly descending onto the stage from a small platform, […]

Quadbiking with the Quadfather

November 17, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

A few weeks ago when the weather was rather cold and crummy, when there was talk of November being the month that would bring the snow, I got the chance to film some friends out Quadbiking for a stag do. They were there to spend a few hours at a filthy, muddy, waterlogged field with massive hills, deep water features and a group of owners who told me the place was at its best in the snow. Quadfather is a […]

Call of Duty Ghosts

Call of Duty: Ghosts

November 3, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

The next instalment of Call of Duty comes out in the next few days, and takes a departure from the Modern Warfare series even though its still developed by Infinity Ward (or some of the original team). The new subseries is based around an elite group of soldiers called Ghosts, with name coming from a team left behind to defend a hospital who overcame substantial enemy numbers by attacking them using stealth and ‘ghost’ like skills. The main story focuses […]

Blue Reef Aquarium Day Out

September 11, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

So I got the chance to go to an event hosted by Brian Moore from Metro Radio at Blue Reef Aquarium in Whitley Bay. I hadn’t been to an aquarium since I was a kid on a school trip so my expectations were pretty much equivalent to watching Finding Nemo – a few fish in a tank with nothing special happening. The event got off to an interesting start after we got to handle some starfish out of a tank, […]

Zapcat Powerboat Millennium Bridge

Zapcat Powerboat Racing and More Interviews

August 31, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

So I was asked to head down to the Quayside in Newcastle to film an interview with a gentleman named Steven. Newcastle was being set up to hold the next Zapcat Grand Prix. Last year 25,000 people turned up to the quayside to watch the boats race. This year a larger crowd is expected with the great weather to draw in the public. 15 teams will race up and down the river Tyne combining the picturesque sights such as the […]

Sunderland Air Show 2013

July 29, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Well it was the 25th anniversary of the Sunderland Air show that brings in millions of aircraft enthusiasts, fair goers, and general drunkards. It ranged from great weather on Saturday to mediocre stuff on the Sunday, while the planes themselves were always amazing. I was up in the Metro Radio broadcast with a great view of the beach, the crowds gathering before us, and the yachts and ships cruising on the water. As it was a Sunday pouring with rain […]

Northern Pride Uk

July 23, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Northern Pride Uk is a festival that provides a strong and positive voice for the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transexual community. On Saturday the 20th it was held in Newcastle Upon Tyne at Exhibition Park, and for a festival that was free, it was easily in the category of something that people should pay to see! Acts included headliner Amelia Lily, Toyah, Katrina of the Waves and Gaynor from Metro Radio. Every act put on an amazing performance, with a […]

Songs to chill out to over Summer!

July 13, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

No Diggity was a classic R & B track by Blackstreet way back in 1996. It was the track that many people grooved to when R & B was ‘in’. Now Alice Jemima, a 19 year old singer songwriter from Newton Abbot, Devon has given a fresh take on it. Her version is more chilled with a rich tone that anyone can relax to during this hot summer. To me its got the same kind of vibe heard in The XX. […]

Deadpool Bitch Slaps Wolverine – Literally!

June 30, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Ever wanted to see an 800 year old man slapping the hell out of Wolverine? I’m guessing you’re answer is probably no, but still, seeing Deadpool do it while throwing in some weird one liners while doing it is fun! Most people would probably remember the name Deadpool from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine film, played by Ryan Reynolds. Those who follow the X-Men series would know him as the villain turned hero to mouthy mercenary Wade Wilson, the anti hero […]

Skydive!

Most sports require one ball, Skydiving requires two!

June 17, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

Saturday, June 15, its 8.30 am and a group of individuals, some sane, some not, have gathered in Peterlee. Everyone has been raising money for North East charity Cash for Kids, and now the final culmination of it all. A warm sun heats the ground, while the cloudless sky gives us a clear view of the gods above. Everyone gets signed in, and gets shuffled into a room to begin training about how to fall out of a plane, since […]

A Few Songs That You Should Definitely Check Out….

June 11, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

It has been a while since I came across a songs that worthy to put on repeat. Daft Punks ‘Get Lucky’ was great, but has been heard everywhere so I wanted to find something that wasn’t getting the playback it deserved (I sound like a hipster!). The first song that has to mentioned is by Roxie LS, a singer songwriter based in London who I can barely find anything about other than she likes surfing. Every link to information about […]

Xbox One

The Next Xbox

May 23, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

So the new Xbox has been finally announced, with the title Xbox One. Bit of a duff name since technically it’s the 3rd one, but hey Microsoft are in their own world when it comes to technology. The Surface was a great concept for example, which Microsoft thought people would buy by the boatload since there are so many Apple haters out there. Unfortunately an overpriced tablet only works if you’re Apple and have a devoted fan base that will […]

Random Access Memories - Daft Punk

The Most Anticipated Release of the Year? Daft Punk!

May 14, 2013 by WhoIsDhillon

The French duo Daft Punk have finally got around to creating their fourth album. We’re not including the Tron: Legacy soundtrack, since it was a soundtrack with various short bits of music that were amazing but….no. Random Access Memories, which is set for UK release on the 20 May, has been in the works possibly since 2008 while they were also creating the Tron: Legacy score (one of the songs does sound a lot like something from Tron). The album […]
