Northern Pride Uk is a festival that provides a strong and positive voice for the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transexual community. On Saturday the 20th it was held in Newcastle Upon Tyne at Exhibition Park, and for a festival that was free, it was easily in the category of something that people should pay to see!
Acts included headliner Amelia Lily, Toyah, Katrina of the Waves and Gaynor from Metro Radio. Every act put on an amazing performance, with a top hostess performance from Pride Star Miss Rory. Kieron Richardson who plays Ste on Hollyoaks also made a great appearance on stage to welcome the acts.
The day was a lively event from the start with many local businesses from the community turning up to run stalls that offered advice, support, and fun, from whistles being handed out by Tyne and Wear Fire Service (vuvuzelas had nothing on these!) to Gateshead College running a buzz wire game on a large scale.
Everyone felt welcomed at the event with people being comfortable to dress and act how they felt comfortable. Although there was the odd drunk as in any event, everyone else looked like they were having an amazing time!
