Some Summer Tunes

I know the weathers been up and down the past couple of weeks (mainly down) but with summer approaching hopefully we’ll get the chance to set up a barbecue here and there. And to get the barby going you’ll need more than just some mediocre cooking skills, a massive bag of meat and some alcohol to mask the taste of burnt sausages.

Here’s a list of tunes to get the party going:

Nelly – Ride Wit Me (Viceroy “Jet Life” Remix)

We’re going all the way back to 2001 with Nelly’s ‘Ride wit Me’. Vice Roy takes this tune back even further to the 80s dropping the original songs beat for old skool electro – and it all fits very well! The song becomes chilling holiday tune that would work at a summer party, relaxing at the beach, wherever the sun takes you. Check out the rest of his remixes of Return of the Mac, Getting Jiggy with it and more.

Rixton – ‘My Love’ (Route 94 ft Jess Glynne Cover)

What happens when you take Route 94’s ‘My Love’ and throw in some Justin Timberlake’s song of the same name? You get Rixton’s indie cover tune. The bands taken the dancey vibe of Rout 94 and have done well to convert it to a drum and guitar mix, with a tempo that slows down in the right places and builds back up to keep you on your feet!

Paramore – That’s What You Get (Lonczinski Remix)

Need a song with a singalong intro? Lonczinski has you covered. He’s taken Paramore and given them a House overhaul. Now you get the great Hayley Williams getting a build up to a beat dropping trance anthem. He’s also created some great remixes of The Killers and OneRepublic if you need more.

Daughter ‘Get Lucky’ (Shadow Child VIP)

Sometimes you also need a song to wind down to. Daughter done a great cover of Daft Punks ‘Get Lucky’ in the live lounge, which was a dark brooding contrast to the original. Shadow Child has taken Elena Tonra’s voice and set it over a more up-tempo house beat that changes the vibe of the track, overall leaving you with something that is much more of a foot tapper and head nodder.
