I have no idea how I missed this remix, but thankfully I stumbled onto it this morning resulting in it being on all day. Santigold was an artist I listened to back in college after hearing her song ‘Creator’ featured during the Alberto Vo5 hair commercial. The odd genre bending style mixing fast rap over synth beats was enough to make it sound amazingly fresh and awesome. It pretty much resulted in her being constantly on repeat in the car (Lights Out is currently nestled easily in my Top 100).

Thanks to Brummer Musik, she’s back! I checked out Nicolas Epe a few weeks back when he released a remix of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and definitely enjoyed the relaxed tone. This remix is in a whole different direction.

Santigolds track has been converted into a more fast paced disco track that would get any crowd making shapes. The electro drops and build ups matched with the catchy lyrics provide a whole new genre for the original track, uprooting it into a different category. In the end it works extremely well, and I happy to be listening to Santigold again.

Now that I’ve also found out she released a new album called ‘Master of My Make-Believe‘ back in April, she may be dominating the airwaves of my life for the next few weeks.
